Glossary, memory, pronunciation, and transliteration.

Use this guide when you want repeated terms, phrase choices, read-aloud pronunciation, or visible learner transliteration to behave consistently.

Tools

Each terminology tool has a different job.

GlossaryPreferred visible translations for terms such as maamar, hisbonenus, or Or Ein Sof.
Translation memoryApproved repeated phrases reused across projects.

Workflow

How to build reliable terminology.

  1. Start with one translated project.
  2. Use Word Lens or review mode to identify repeated technical terms.
  3. Add visible preferred translations to Glossary.
  4. Add repeated phrase choices to Translation Memory only after review.
  5. Add TTS-only spoken forms to Pronunciation.
  6. Add learner-facing romanization to Transliteration.
  7. Run a small retranslation or summary test before applying to a whole project.

Import/export

Move terminology in and out.

  • CSV is the simplest format for glossary and pronunciation lists.
  • TMX supports translation memory exchange when enabled.
  • TBX-style termbase export is useful for editorial workflows when enabled.
  • Backup and project ZIP should include user-created terminology data, but not provider keys.

Boundaries

Do not mix the dictionaries.

Pronunciation changes speech only. Transliteration changes visible study output. Glossary changes visible translation preferences. Translation memory reuses approved phrases. Keeping them separate prevents confusing exports and read-aloud output.
